Who is Let's Make Cyprus Green?
We are a young couple that consider ourselves to be environmentalists and are big nature enthusiasts. We created Let’s Make Cyprus Green in late 2017 with the aim of reducing the amount of unsightly litter and plastic usage throughout the island. It’s no secret that littering and plastic pollution is a global dilemma, which is why we’ve taken it upon ourselves to tackle these issues by acting locally while thinking globally.
Simply put, Cyprus is our home, we love it and we want to keep it beautiful.
Our name, Let’s Make Cyprus Green, exactly defines our mission, which is to help make Cyprus go green. We have three different approaches to accomplish this.
1. Education – We post environmental articles on our website and social media pages, as well as go to schools and teach children about the dangers of plastic and littering so they will grow to become environmentally conscious and think about the consequences of their choices, behaviors, and purchases.
However, everything mentioned above is a huge job and cannot be done by just two people. After all, we’re attempting to green an entire country which in actuality requires an army of people by our side. This is why we have decided to officially register Let’s Make Cyprus Green as an NGO, in other words, a non-profit organization. As an NGO we will be able to have the help of passionate, like-minded people who care about and want to protect the environment just as we do. As well as have the option for potential financial support to help us continue our cleanup events, educational material, and environmental classroom presentations, which since day one of starting Let’s Make Cyprus Green have all been funded by us.
Once we have enough members to register as an NGO, we will have monthly meetings where we will discuss our progress, goals, and plans to make Cyprus green. If you’d like to become part of the solution, or are interested or have any questions about becoming a member, please send us an email at [email protected].
Or alternatively, if you cannot commit to becoming a member, we are accepting donations to help us raise money for our NGO registration fee, which is €2,320. If you’d like to contribute to our cause by making a donation, no matter how big or small, to help us continue our mission to make Cyprus green you can do so by clicking here.
Together we all can make a difference.
